Farm Design is crucial to
the quality and quantity of
food production.  Once the
site is secured we must
consider land slope,
sunlight, water source, soil
type and crop selection.
The growing seasons will
help to shape the farm site
and dictate further
changes that are
necessary to fine tune the
design.

Urban farming utilizes a variety of
growing techniques and material.
When growing in the soil we can raise
the beds and mulch pathways with
wood chips.  Fence posts and wire
create a trellis system for Grapes,
Muscadines and Kiwi.

When faming on  concrete surfaces
planting boxes allow us to create a
fertile mix of heavily composted
planting soil.  The wood frames are
filled with layers of organic matter,
sand, compost and topsoil that retains
water and releases nutrients as it
decomposes.

Urban farms require micro-organisms
and earthworms to be added to them
prior to planting.  These active beings
increase the life energy in the soil while
helping to balance the mineral content
for root absorption.
